How is Gastric Bypass Surgery Performed?
Gastric Bypass is usually performed laparoscopically under general anesthesia:
Pre-Operative Assessment: Comprehensive evaluation including blood tests, imaging, and medical history analysis.
Stomach Reduction: A small pouch is created from the upper portion of the stomach to limit food intake.
Intestinal Rerouting: Part of the small intestine is connected to the new stomach pouch, reducing calorie absorption.
Post-Operative Care: Patients receive instructions for diet, activity, and follow-up visits.
The procedure typically lasts 2–3 hours, and most patients stay in the hospital for 2–4 days.
