How is Chin Surgery Performed?
Chin surgery can be performed using different techniques depending on the desired outcome:
Consultation & Planning: Detailed facial analysis and discussion of goals.
Anesthesia: Typically performed under general anesthesia or local anesthesia with sedation.
Surgical Techniques – Options include:
- Chin Augmentation with Implants – A silicone or biocompatible implant is placed to enhance projection.
- Sliding Genioplasty – Bone is cut and repositioned for natural enhancement.
- Chin Reduction – Excess bone or tissue is removed to refine the chin.
Closing the Incisions: Depending on the method, incisions may be inside the mouth or under the chin, leaving minimal or no visible scars.
The procedure usually takes 1–2 hours, and patients can return home the same day.
