How is Eyelid Surgery Performed?
The method depends on whether upper eyelid, lower eyelid, or both areas are treated:
Consultation & Planning: A full evaluation of eyelid condition and patient goals.
Anesthesia: Usually performed under local anesthesia with sedation or general anesthesia if needed.
Upper Eyelid Surgery: Excess skin, muscle, and sometimes fat are removed through a small incision along the natural crease.
Lower Eyelid Surgery: Fat deposits and loose skin are corrected via an incision just below the lash line or inside the eyelid (transconjunctival technique).
Closing Incisions: Fine sutures are used to ensure minimal scarring.
The procedure usually takes 1–2 hours and is often performed on an outpatient basis.
